The secret truth behind selling: we are all sales men and sales women! That’s right, every single one of you is in sales. If you are trying to convince yourself that you are not a sales person, I want you to think back to a time when you were dating a significant other. Did you not try to sell yourself to this person in hopes a certain relationship would blossom? Or how about to prospective employers when you went on job interviews? And my personal favorite (what really opened my eyes to me being a sales person,) dealing with kids!
Have you ever had to sell a kid on the idea that doing homework and chores is way better than playing video games or not chasing you with an ax? That last part may not be your personal experience, but it certainly was my experience. I started a career as a behavioral therapist years ago and I distinctly remember every situation where I sold kids on the idea of what an appropriate behavior is. For instance, doing math homework is better than chasing me with an ax, trying to set me on fire, or just knocking me out cold turkey. And no, those experiences were not the reasons why I left the field of behavioral therapy. I started a degree in Marketing, because I loved how marketing positively impacts businesses and how creative one can be with marketing. I love coming up with new solutions for a business and watching a business thrive. Knowing the right type of marketing will bring in new customers for a business and help retain customers for that business too. Not marketing or the wrong type of marketing for your business will put your business at risk for failure. Even Henry Ford once said that “not marketing to save money, is like stopping your watch to save time.” Ultimately, marketing combines my passions for the arts, helping individuals better their lives, as well as embracing the sales woman in me.
Sales is a service. A service to educate the public and help people make the best informed decision for their lives. I would love to be part of that decision making process for you and watch your life change for the better.
